      Message from WordPress 10th Anniversary:
Celebrate the 10th anniversary of the very first WordPress release in 2003!

      1. Find a cool place that people can meet up and hang out to celebrate. To keep it easy and light, having people pay for their own food and drinks is 100% okay.

      2. Promote your party to local tech groups, meetup groups, bloggers, and press.

      3. If you get above 50 people attending, we’ll try to send you some WordPress stickers and buttons.

      4. On May 27, make sure everyone has a good time, meet some new WordPress friends, and share your photos and videos for our 24-hour worldwide 10th anniversary party photostream. We’ll send you details on how to upload to the central blog.

If you have an existing meetup group, please also list your event here so that we can coordinate all the parties from one place when it’s time for us to send out WordPress stickers or buttons for party favors.

All WP10 parties should be free to get in (no cover charge).

We’ll have a blog set up soon where you can ask questions, but for now, if you want to be part of the celebration, start planning your WP10 party and list it here!

      Code Together!

OpenHack is a meetup with a simple purpose: Code together, on anything.

      THE BASICS

      • You can hack on anything! Any language, framework, public/open-source, personal, etc.
      • Skill level doesn’t matter. We don’t care if you’re working on Hello World or on increasing your wizarding level.
      • You don’t have to have an idea to hack on! You’re more than welcome to come just to pair with someone.

Miami-Dade County will host one of over 100 events taking place throughout the U.S. on June 1st and 2nd as part of National Day of Civic Hacking (NDoCH). This is an opportunity for government agencies, businesses, nonprofits and civically-engaged individuals to work together to solve complex social problems. Over 5,000 participants are expected to gather across the nation with more Federal agencies working on the same project on the same day than ever before is US history.

More information about the Miami event can be found on the national website here, as well as the local Eventbrite registration page here. The event will take place at the LAB Miami, a coworking space and ‘campus for social innovation’ in Wynwood funded by the Knight Foundation.

Supporting organizations to date include The LAB Miami, Knight Foundation, The Beacon Council, University of Miami, Florida International University, Miami-Dade County and Miami Foundation.

Hack For Change: Miami will have three different themes:

The Art of Government Data // #artofgovdata
We want participants to explore the use government data as the raw material for artistic expression. What do “we” and “our society” look like when visualized by artists working together with programmers? What do we sound like if composers use government data sets as the fuel for composition?

      Sustainability // #code2sustain
How can we leverage environmental data to hack solutions for a more sustainable future? #code2sustain will unlock green data sets for innovators to develop game-changing applications.

      Code For America Write-a-thon
No coding experience? No problem. Get started with civic hacking with a write-a-thon for MiamiWiki.org with Miami’s new Code For America Brigade and Hacks/Hackers MiamiYour local knowledge, stories and photos will help create and edit a community-driven Wiki about our city that engages visitors and residents.

A subject for this meetup not firm yet, but it is bound to be good even if we simply get together and chat about what we are all up to lately.

Most of these meetups include FREE pizza and drinks provided by the current months sponsor. Sorry but these meetups are alcohol free and are mostly a learning atmosphere, though we usually socialize before and after the topic of the month.

We are in the midst of a global remix. Disciplines merge and cross-pollinate. Technology intrudes into biology and society. Power and authority are redistributed. Boundaries shift — or disappear. Hopes and anxieties collide. A new world is emerging at the intersection of once-separated realities, and everything we think we know might just be wrong. TEDGlobal 2013 will bring together those who challenge us to pause for an instant and Think Again.

We will be presenting Sessions 4, 5, 6 and 7
